Song: Just the Two of Us
Artist: Grover Washington
Moment: Tea party with Dad! I think I was 6 or 7 years old (probably younger, since I don't recall where Lizzie was at this time), and it was something like a lazy, rainy Sunday afternoon in the summer. I had this fabulous tea service set--it was a snazzy little number of 2-3 yellow plastic kidney-bean shaped trays that stacked on light brown plastic legs (and the bottom set of legs had wheels for gallavanting around the whole house). The service set was also lovely plastic, in bright reds, oranges, greens, and yellows. Tea cups, saucers, and little rectangular service platters. I think I had blue marbles and lettered blocks I liked to use for blueberries and breads. So, Dad was playing this song on the stereo in the living room, and I came trawling along with my tea service across the sculptured carpet...every time I hear this song, I think of this moment. We originally were going to use this song for the Father/Daughter dance at the wedding, but we wound up using Stevie Wonder's "You Are the Sunshine of My Life" instead (that's another song that always makes me think of my daddy!).
