Song: Let's Hear It for the Boy
Artist: Deniece Williams
Moment: Last day of school, 3rd grade. I think it was a half day for us to just come back and clean out our lockers and such. Aren't half days the best? It was a lovely early summer day...still felt a bit like spring and smelled fresh and light and sunny. I remember all of us trekking out into the hallway and me stuffing loads of paper (lots of those mega sheets with the huge handwriting lines on the bottom half with blank space for "illustrating" on the top half) into a Martin's paper grocery bag. When we were finished, we got to go for the summer! My mom was waiting for me in her car outside (quite the treat, as I was usually a walk-from-school kid), and Deniece Williams's delightful little ditty was playing when I got into the car.

There are so many spring days in adulthood where I've tried to recreate this bit of carefree hope for summer off...have yet to succeed...
